In a medium stock pot, bring sugar and water to a boil. Cook until sugar dissolves. Place ice in a bowl and pour the hot sugar water over top. Cover and refrigerate until cold. In a small bowl, combine lemon juice, agrodolce and balsamic. Refrigerate and keep cold. Once both have chilled, combine and pour over ice into two glasses, add liquor (if using) garnish with lemon slice
