Turkey Broccoli with Rice Noodles

Submitted by Denise Walburg

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Fustini's Sesame oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 lb ground turkey (ground chicken or beef also work)
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Fustini's Ginger & Honey balsamic
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Farmstyle sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 pkg (4 oz) thin rice noodles
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish
  • green onion, sliced, for garnish

Hint

For more heat, substitute Spicy Korean balsamic

Directions

Step 1.

In a large skillet add sesame oil with the ground meat.  Cook over medium-high until the meat is almost done.  Add onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.  Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

Step 2.

Add 1/4 cup balsamic, soy sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar and sriracha.  Combine well.  Increase heat and bring to a boil for 1 minute.  In a small bowl, combine the remaining balsamic with the corn starch to create a slurry.  Add to mixture, combine.  Reduce heat to simmer until thickenend.

Step 3.

Meanwhile, bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add broccoli and blanch for 2 minutes.  Remove from water with a slotted spoon into an ice bath.  Bring water back to a boil.  Once boiling, add noodles, turn off heat and allow noodles to cook (according to package directions).

Step 4.

Remove noodles from the pot and place them in the center of a bowl.  Add broccoli to one side and the meat mixture to the other side.  Garnish with a drizzle of sesame oil and top with sesame seeds and green onion slices.
