Do you consider yourself new to the kitchen?
Getting a pair of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar can be an exciting time. But if you’re not sure what to do next with them, it may leave you frantically Googling “what to do with extra virgin olive oil”.
You’ve got great flavors at the ready. Now for a way to incorporate them in all you cook.
With the versatility of oils and vinegars, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy them. Yet sometimes, you may just wonder where to start.
Launched in 2021, each bottle of oil and vinegar at Fustini’s displays a gateway to over 2000 recipes and application ideas. With a quick scan of a QR code, you’re on your way to discovering delicious meals any time of day.
At Fustini’s, we’re all about helping you create and enjoy fresh, flavorful and healthy food. Whether you’re in-store or at home, we believe you can discover the joy of cooking with great food and quality ingredients. Because of this, we continually seek opportunities to best support our customers, wherever they may be.
QR codes have been around for quite some time. Yet due to the COVID pandemic, restaurants increasingly began to replace their laminated paper menus with a QR code posted on the dining table. With just a scan on your mobile device, patrons could see all the options they could order from on the menu.
That got an employee in the Fustini’s Petoskey location thinking, “what if Fustini’s could incorporate QR codes, too?” The idea began with putting QR codes on the Fusti containers that house the oils and balsamics in the store. The thought was that when people came into the store to purchase, they could scan the QR code and get instant access to recipes. Yet with the growth of online shopping, having QR codes right on the bottle labels brought that access to recipes quicker and easier from right in the kitchen.
Soon, bottle labels were designed with a unique QR code that, when scanned, brought the user to a webpage that housed a plethora of recipes that incorporate that particular extra virgin olive oil or vinegar.
Meal time decisions at the tips of your fingers.
Whether through recipe cards, virtual cooking classes or application lists, Fustini’s is dedicated to equipping you with recipes and ideas to enjoy and find joy in the products you receive.
Which is why we’re so excited about these QR codes.
Here are some of the reasons why we hope you scan that code.
You think of an idea or comb through your refrigerator for something to make for dinner. Then it’s time to search through websites and cookbooks to find a recipe that works for your family and kitchen. Thus, delaying your dinner time, potentially leading to unhappy kids and rumbling tummies.
Oh, and you’ve got a bottle of olive oil and balsamic to use that could add some serious flavor.
Rather than rummaging through blogs, recipe pages and other websites that often take forever to load, you can get access to a library of dishes with just one QR scan on your Fustini’s bottle. Search through tested and trusted recipes that are always packed with flavor.
While balsamic vinegar lasts practically forever, your extra virgin olive oils have a shelf life. For the best and freshest flavor, it’s best to use your EVOOs within 18 months of the date printed on the bottle.
Be equipped with the recipe knowledge to be sure to use your EVOO within that window. No more asking, “how do I use this?” Our QR codes have you covered.
Since Fustini’s products also make great gift ideas, the QR codes printed on the bottles also serve as a recipe book to inspire your recipient. You won’t have to worry about if they’ll actually use your gift; they’ll get hundreds of ideas at their fingertips. It also saves you the work of providing ideas and recipes for them to get them started.
Browsing through our list of oils and vinegars, some may seemingly be more versatile than others. Basil oil, for example, can be used in just about any kind of dish. Our Sicilian Lemon balsamic vinegar brings a delightful pop of flavor to chicken, veggies, fish and so much more.
Then there are some other delicious flavor options that may have a more specialized profile. Mango balsamic vinegar, for example, is a bright and fruity pop of flavor but may not align well with dishes like a creamy beef roast. Tunisia Harrisa olive oil brings the heat with red and green chili peppers for a warm and vibrant addition. With fun infused flavors such as these, easy access to recipes can help you to take full advantage of your fresh oils and vinegars.
Ready to get cooking? On each and every bottle, you’ll get a spark of inspiration and ideas with just a scan on your mobile device. Without having to worry about how you can use your oils and vinegars, you can walk into the kitchen with eagerness and excitement as you elevate the flavor at meal time. Be inspired with a gourmet touch and celebrate the joy of cooking.
