Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Fustini's Garlic olive oil
- 1 sweet onion diced
- 2 tablespoons chili garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 2 tablespoons Fustini's Ginger & Honey balsamic, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound ground pork or chicken
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 14-ounce can of fire-roasted tomatoes, drained
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 4 brioche buns, or 8 -10 slider buns
- 1 tablespoon Fustini's Sesame oil
- 1 cup broccoli slaw
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add the olive oil. Add in the onion, garlic paste, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Deglaze with 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
- Add in the ground pork or chicken, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Brown the meat, stirring often, for about 6 minutes. Stir in the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, tomatoes, and lime juice. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce it to a simmer and cook until the mixture thickens about 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, combine the slaw mix, remaining balsamic, and sesame oil. Mix well. Serve the sloppy joes on the brioche buns, topped with both the broccoli slaw.
Recipe Note
Alternative olive oil suggestions: Persian Lime, Ginger Crush or Cayenne Crush. Pictured as sliders. To keep the bread crunchy, drizzle inside of rolls with a little olive oil, place on a baking sheet and toast slightly. Adapted from howsweeteats.com
